One of Wynwood’s first bars is relaunching after a serious makeover

Wynwood was a very, very different place in 2009. “Up-and-coming” was the phrase folks liked to use. Back then the arts district was not a drinking destination and, in fact, one of the only nightlife concepts around was an airy outdoor bar called Cafeina. It gained a following as the neighborhood rose but, within the last few years, we haven’t heard a lot from Cafeina.

The bar is hoping to change that, though, when it re-opens on May 24 with a new look and refreshed cocktail and food menu. The new Cafeina will make use of its indoor and outdoor space. Outside, patio furniture offers plenty of room to chill out. Inside, a sleeker, more polished look—piano and pool table included—awaits. Adjacent to the main room will also be a 1,000-square-foot gallery space called Wynwood Exhibition Center, which will have monthly rotating exhibitions.

Cafeina’s kitchen will be serving a Colombian/Asian menu and, starting May 27, will introduce a boozy brunch. Weekly entertainment will happen on Thursdays (piano bar night) and Saturday (stand-up comedy). There will be a Friday happy hour going from 5 to 7pm. So stop by and see your old friend in Wynwood later this month. They’ve certainly changed since the last time you saw them.
