Well, Miami, we’ve got another year in front of us. And while we can’t say for sure what 2019 has in store (praying for no hurricanes and lots of cheese), January is off to a promising start. Get out that planner and look at some of the highlights coming your way this month.

1. Bal Harbour Ice Cream Festival. Head to Bal Harbour for a weekend full of ice cream. Local favorites Dasher & Crank, Wynwood Parlor and more will be slinging scoops to benefit Holtz Children’s Hospital. Bal Harbour Shops, 9700 Collins Ave, Bal Harbour (jacksonhealthfoundation.org/events/icecream). Jan 12, 13 at 1pm; $15–$40.

2. New Order. English legends New Order are coming to the Fillmore. This show is all but guaranteed to sell out so get those tickets or risk having a very blue Monday when you have to see all your friends post about how much fun they had. Fillmore Miami Beach, 1700 Washington Ave, Miami Beach (305-673-7300, fillmoremb.com). Jan 12 at 8:30pm; $275–$656.

3. Uncorked Miami Wine Festival. More than 100 wines will be pouring in the lovely waterfront Regatta Park. There will also be food, lawn games and music. Regatta Park, 2699 SW 27th Ave (uncorkedwinefestivals.com). Jan 12 at 1pm; $60–$70.

4. Coral Gables Festival of the Arts. This free arts festival shows off some Gables locals alongside plenty of food and music. The street fair is super family friendly, so bring the kids along. On Alhambra from Ponce de Leon Blvd to Le Jeune Rd. (coralgablesartfestival.com). Jan 26, 27 at 10am; free.

5. Life in Color Miami. Miami’s messiest paint party returns for another filthy year. The Wynwood rave will be headlined by Diplo and…Shaquille O'Neal? Damn, 2019 is already weird. RC Cola Plant, 550 NW 24th St (lifeincolor.com). Jan 19 at 5pm; $75.

6. 13th Annual Chocolate Festival. Want to learn about chocolate, eat chocolate and be surrounded by likeminded sweet tooths who feel the same way? At the Chocolate Festival, you’ll leave satisfied and learn some useful choco-tips along the way. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Rd (fairchildgarden.org). Jan 25–27; $12–$25.

7. Pegasus World Cup. South Florida’s very own version of the Kentucky Derby is back. What makes our high-stakes race special? Live music from big artists, a day party and plenty of flashy fashion. Gulfstream Park, 901 S Federal Hwy, Hallandale Beach (gulfstreampark.com). Jan 26 at 11am; $60–$1,000.

8. Craig Robinson. Have you heard the good news? The Miami Improv is back—and already booking some huge comics. See the new venue when The Office alum Craig Robinson stops by for three days of shows. Miami Improv, 8300 NW 36th St, Doral (miamiimprov.com). Jan 25–27 at 8pm; $30–$50.
