If you’ve been within 100 yards of a television or radio or messenger pigeon in the last few weeks then you’ve surely heard the words Crazy Rich Asians. The book-turned-film has been on the lips of just about every media-consuming human on this planet lately. And by almost every review and metric imaginable, it has earned every ounce of that attention.
The film is being praised as a glorious and long overdue victory for Asian representation in Hollywood as one of the first movies in decades with a leading cast of Asian actors. It’s also just a really good movie too, apparently. So one can imagine how excited Miami will be when we get a chance to meet the person responsible for all of it on September 21. Kevin Kwan, the author of Crazy Rich Asians (and two more novels), is coming to the Coral Gables Books & Books for a meet-and-greet and discussion.
Kwan was not only behind the book, but had a hand in casting and producing the film adaptation of Crazy Rich Asians. This event will probably be very, very crowded so you’ll want to RSVP via Eventbrite (it’s free, by the way) and arrive nice and early to nab a spot.
