This week is a big one for South Florida improv. Starting tomorrow, the Miami Improv Festival brings four days, 38 shows and 14 workshops to Just the Funny, Miami’s longest-running improv theater.

“We bring in the biggest and the best from around the country,” says David Christopher, the Managing Director of Just the Funny. Running from Thursday through Sunday, the Miami Improv Festival brings troupes from New York, Los Angeles and Chicago together with 11 South Florida groups for a mix of shows and workshops taught by the headliners.

Tickets are available for individual shows ($10 to $20), nightly passes ($32 to $75) and festival passes ($175).

Just the Funny’s 98-seat theater celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. With a bar full of local beer and wine and a separate cabaret room for stand-up, the Coral Way space should be on every comedy-loving Miamian’s radar. “If anybody has ever wanted to see what South Florida improv is all about, this festival is a perfect place to do it," Christopher says. “You’re going to get everything in one weekend.”
