Wigwood, Miami’s wildest queer festival, returns next week

In case you haven’t noticed, drag shows have never been more in-demand around Miami. And you can look no further than the second annual Wigwood for proof of that.

Miami's most exciting queer festival is back this year and has expanded in size and scope. In 2017, Wigwood took over Gramps for one glorious day. This year, the fest hosts events around Miami from Friday, February 2, to Sunday, February 4. You can expect some galactic madness as this year’s theme is “Aliens on Vacation.”

Wigwood starts off on Friday with a kick-off party at the Scottish Rite Temple (471 NW 3rd Street)—not the first place you think of when you think fierce Miami drag performance, but, hey we’re all for mixing things up. RuPaul's Drag Race star Thorgy will be headlining the night, which will also include a fashion show showcasing queer designers. On Saturday, the party heads to Gramps. The fun starts at 4pm with all your favorite locals: Jupiter Velvet, Miss Toto, and many more. Everything comes to a close on Sunday at the Broken Shaker’s pool with a laid-back gathering of food, music and drinks.

If all this sounds good to you, grab a weekend pass for $40. Or you can get a ticket to individual events for $20–$25 via wigwoodmiami.com. Or, if you're really savvy, you can grab discounted tickets at Gramps' Bingo with Miss Toto on Wednesday nights or at Double Stubble on Thursday nights.
