Joined to the handsome Fort Lauderdale Beach by a pedestrian tunnel, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is a big patch of green with nature trails and wildlife-watching hotspots aplenty. Canoes are available for rental, while cyclists and skaters can make use of a long paved road that cuts through the park.
