Adapted from the hit Jack Black movie about a slovenly has-been rocker who transforms a class of straitlaced private schoolers into mini Robert Plants, School of Rock has lost none of its eardrum-pounding edge in its transition to the stage. On the contrary, it has gained 14 new songs courtesy of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and in a first for Broadway, the child actors play their instruments live on stage.
