Time Out says

Yamil Piedra is an actor, comedian, and Emmy Award-Winning writer. He was born in Havana, Cuba and arrived in Miami at the age of 2 by way of the Mariel boatlift in 1980. A graduate of Florida International University with a BA in Theatre, he has been featured on Boston Legal, Las Vegas, Burn Notice, Last Comic Standing, & BET Comic View. In 2007, he was featured in Ocean Drive Español Magazine's "En Caliente" section calling his on-line videos, which have acquired millions of view, "extraordinary parodies."

Using his serious demeanor to great effect, Yamil has been able to captivate audiences with his unique style of stand up. The first time he stepped on stage at the Miami Improv during an open mic in 2002, scouts from BET Comic View knew there was something about this 6'4 funny man and invited him to perform the following night at the Jackie Gleason Theater for their television taping. Since then Yamil has taken part in several stand up comedy showcases including Comedy Central's Open Mic Fight, NBC's Stand Up for Diversity, and a Just for Laughs Showcase.

In 2003, he created the highly successful Miami-based sketch comedy duo A Pair of Nuts, with his buddy Johnny Trabanco. As a writer and creative director for the duo, their work has garnered them critical acclaim and have had their videos featured all over the web, becoming partners with YouTube and John Leguizamo's UrbanoTV. Together they've been featured on Comedy Central's Tosh.0, Last Call w/ Carson Daly, and VH1's Money Hungry. The Nuts have also performed at comedy clubs, colleges, festivals, and military bases nationwide.

In 2010, Yamil starred and wrote for the Spanish language sketch comedy show on MegaTV, El Vacilon, where he worked with a number of international Hispanic celebrities including Wilmer Valderrama, Tony Plana, Luis Guzman, Steven Bauer, Elvis Crespo, and Jose Luis Rodriguez "El Puma." His work on the show earned him a 2010 Suncoast Emmy Award for writing and allowed him to introduce a new style of comedy never before seen in the Spanish market... funny.
