We the People MN says
Please join We The People MN for our 10th Act, “100 Days of Trump: Moving from Resistance to Persistence”, a celebration of our growing community coming together to get politically educated, socially connected, and personally motivated to work together to make a positive difference in our country. This 100th Day event will include a community potluck, an overview of We the People MN’s previous Constitutional Acts as seen through the lens of the rights and responsibilities given to us in the U.S. Constitution, an advocacy storytelling workshop, and a rededication to action.

Over the past 100 days, we have witnessed the new Administration challenge our democratic institutions through policies, proposals, and ethics violations; promote fake news and alternative facts; appoint irresponsibly unqualified loyalists to his cabinet; and recklessly tweet. At the same time we have witnessed a resurgence of democratic action against Trump, from the record-breaking Women’s Marches on the day after the inauguration, to the spontaneous actions at airports to protest Trump’s immigrant travel ban, to the organic rise of local groups committed to local political action.

At “100 Days of Trump: Moving from Resistance to Persistence”, we will gather in community to mark Trump’s first 100 days, but also mark our first 100 days in the resistance. As we’ve learned through the We The People MN series, the Constitution and our democracy have no power unless we, the people, give it power. Our democratic institutions have atrophied over the decades, and it’s imperative on each of us to strengthen our democratic muscles through the habit of regular daily exercise and conditioning of them, so we can be effective citizens, or as President Obama called it, “the most important office in a democracy.” In moving from Resistance to Persistence we hope to identify ways to switch the energy of fighting “against” into a sustainable practice of persistence fighting “for” what we value over the next 1,361 days, and beyond.
