A Conversation With Author Rawi Hage says
in partnership with Mizna, in English

On Tuesday, March 8, join Alliance Française, Mizna and the Consulate General of Canada in Minneapolis for an evening with photographer and award-winning author Rawi Hage.

Born in Beirut, and having emigrated from Lebanon to New York and eventually to Montréal, where he currently lives, Hage received wide acclaim for the publication of his début novel, Deniro’s Game, in 2006. The work’s warm reception allowed Hage to give up his job as a taxi driver in order to pursue writing as a full-time career.

Hage has gone on to publish #Cockroach in 2008 and, most recently, Carnival, both recognized with the Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction. Praised for the distinctive voice portrayed in his writing, Hage dissects arduous topics including the Arab immigrant experience, day-to-day life in a war-ravaged Beirut following the Lebanese civil war, and facing alienation from society.

Hage will join Lana Barkawi, Executive and Artistic Director of Mizna, the Minneapolis-based publisher of the world’s only Arab American literary journal, in a discussion detailing his life and most recent work, Cockroach.
