Altered Esthetics is thrilled to present Photographs by Marnie Erpestad at the Southern Theater. The opening reception for this solo exhibition of black and white photographs will be held on Friday, May 1st, 5:30-7 pm.

"I photograph collections of man-made structures and objects as a means of exploring larger patterns of human behavior. By re-examining the purpose of a series of objects, I delve into what those structures reveal about the culture and society that produced them. Through an ongoing investigation of the objects with which we surround ourselves, I hope to create a better understanding of human relationships. The series of photographs on exhibit at the Southern Theater are portraits of analogue objects intended to scrutinize the impact of an increasingly digital future on the physical interactions we have with our surroundings and with each other."

Marnie Erpestad is a photographer who lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She received her Bachelors of Arts from the University of Minnesota. She shoots black and white film and alternates between the darkroom and the digital lab when printing her negatives. She is a founding member of the experimental artists group The Artaversaries and has exhibited work in Minnesota spaces including the Vine Arts Center, SOO Local pop up gallery, Gamut Gallery, the Larson Art Gallery U of MN St Paul, and the Hopkins Center for the Arts.
