Elijah Burrell holds his MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars. Burrell's first book of poetry, The Skin of the River, was published by Aldrich Press in 2014. His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Measure, Iron Horse Literary Review, The Sugar House Review, Birmingham Poetry Review, Free State Review, Structo, and many others. Burrell received the 2010 Jane Kenyon Scholarship at Bennington College. Burrell has recently read and lectured in Vermont, Illinois, Texas, Missouri, Tennessee, and New Mexico. Not long ago, Burrell was a finalist for the distinguished 2014 Iron Horse Single-Author Chapbook Competition. He resides in Jefferson City, Missouri, with his wife and two little girls, and teaches creative writing and literature at his alma mater, Lincoln University.
