Time Out says
The 38th & Chicago Business Association is looking for artists/artist groups in all media to temporarily transform underutilized spaces (vacant storefronts and empty lots) in the 38th and Chicago area. Artists in the Powderhorn Park, Central , Bryant, and Bancroft neighborhoods are strongly encouraged to apply.
THE PRIZES
TWO ARTISTS/ARTISTS TEAMS WILL BE AWARDED $750. One artist/artist team will be selected through a Community Voting process (THE PEOPLE’S PRIZE) and the other will be selected by a panel of 38th and Chicago Business Association members (THE BA PRIZE). Top 5 finalists will be awarded $100 for proposal submission during the Community Voting process.
THE PROCESS
1. Submit your art. (see next section)
2. Your art is reviewed by selection committee*
3. 5 artists/artist teams are selected as finalists. Each is awarded $100.
4. Finalists are placed on a ballot that is distributed by businesses and organizations in 38th and Chicago area. Community members vote for their favorite artist/artist team.
5. THE PEOPLE’S PRIZE and THE BA PRIZE are awarded.
*Selection committee - submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee consisting of 38th and Chicago Business Association members, local artists, and the 38th and Chicago Business Association Pop Up Arts Coordinator.
HOW DO I SUBMIT MY ARTWORK?
Send the following information and response to the questions below to info@38thchicago.com no later than 5 pm on Friday, March 20.
1. BASIC INFO: Name, Address, Email, & Phone number
2. DOCUMENTATION OF YOUR ART: 2-3 images, video links, audio tracks, etc. The documentation should give the selection committee a sense of your work and what you would like to create.
3. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS: If you were awarded the prize, what would you like to create? What experience do you have producing this type of exhibition or event?

Tuesday, Feb 23: Call for Artists released
Friday, March 20: Submission deadline
March 30–April 3: Jury Review
Monday, April 6: 5 Finalists Selected and Voting Opens
Friday, April 10: Election event
Sunday, April 19: Voting Closes
Friday, April 24: Pop Up Artists Selected
April 27-May 8: Artist Install
Saturday, May 9: Exhibitions Open/Performances Kick Off
