The White Page says
TRANSITION AND DECAY brings together three unique artists
with three very different but complimentary artistic strategies to the White Page gallery.
Minori Sanchiz-Fung is a Raleigh, NC based painter whose lush and expressive landscapes bring to mind the type of painting Cy Twombly and Richard Diebenkorn might have made if they were the same person. And who knows, has anyone seen them all together lately...
Local musician/artist/cabinet maker Andrew Mazorol is one half of the painting duo AMTK. Mazorol brings to the table an installation that has the feel of a real world AMTK but is unmistakably his own voice. If you're familiar with that voice then you know this is not to be missed. If not, then be assured, this vibrant, startling and sinister work is worth seeing.
Ryan Fontaine is a San Francisco based artist who brought to town last year's Temporary Autonomous Museum of Contemporary Art (TEMP). His new collection of of paintings and sculpture is ambitious yet restrained. On first glance, surface is everything, but give it a little more of your attention and it becomes apparent that this cohesive and self referential work has plenty more to reveal. Large scale, sharply contrasting highlights of black against textured fields of luminous whites and translucent yellows, these abstract paintings may not be as purely abstract as they first appear.
