Dgt's National Family Volunteer Day Family Service Fair says
Families are invited to come together to do simple, hands-on service projects, reflect on the importance of giving back, and learn about opportunities to get involved in their community.

This year's service projects will support the work of the following Twin Cities nonprofits:

People Serving People - Assemble cold weather hygiene kits for people experiencing homelessness.

Metro Meals on Wheels - Create unique place mats for meals delivered to homebound senior citizens.

Open Arms - Decorate bags used to deliver groceries and meals to people struggling with illnesses such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis and ALS.

Bundles of Love - Make bibs and decorate quilt squares for low-income newborns.

Andersen United Community School ESL program - Make whisper phones to help support students learning English as a second language.

Animal Humane Society - Make toys for cats waiting for a forever home.

Camp Noah - Make no-sew fleece blankets to help bring comfort to children experiencing disaster or trauma.

International Institute of Minnesota - Assemble home starter kits for newly resettled refugee families.

National Alliance on Mental Illness Minnesota - Package play doh to help kids experiencing mental illness.
