Environmental Justice Meeting: Northern Metals says
Please attend this important informational meeting for the future of equitable air in North Minneapolis.

Air quality in North Minneapolis has some of the worst rates in the state. Dirty air contributes to health problems and environmental degradation. The metals recycling facility Northern Metals, which is near North Minneapolis, was found in violation of federal and state air quality standards by exceeding the emissions limit of their permit.

The MN Pollution Control Agency is revoking Northern Metals permit technically because they added or changed its operations without notifying the MPCA or hasn’t been truthful in disclosing its emissions. MPCA hasn't proven they've exceeded their emissions limit, but that's a very real consequence of Northern Metals changing their operations or not disclosing the emissions.

This is our opportunity to tell the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency & Northern Metals how this has impacted the community. We will submit public comments to the MPCA and help shape the outcome of this decision.

We'll be joined by the following speakers:
-Director of Environmental Health Daniel Huff will give a brief presentation of health disparities and environmental impacts
-City Council Member Cam Gordon will speak on the City Council perspective & authority
-Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to speak on the legal process of permit revocation
