February Picture Book Salon: Dark Picture Books

The event creator says
At our February Salon, we'll talk about 'darkness' in picture books with author Phyllis Root and illustrator Kari Pearson. Light and silly picture books are great, but the picture book form is incredibly versatile and can be used to explore sad, scary, and somber topics of all kinds. Phyllis and Kari will share their favorite dark picture books with us, and lead us in a discussion of why and how darkness can be effectively presented for the youngest readers in this unique format. Bring your questions and your favorite dark picture book to share.

We will meet on MONDAY, February 1st, in 203, the large classroom on the second floor of Open Book.

The Picture Book Writers' Salon now meets in the Open Book Building on the first MONDAY evening of each month, 7-8:30pm.
Suggested donation $5.

Snacks and beverages provided. Please RSVP here or to mollybethgriffin@gmail.com. Find more info about Salon here: http://mollybethgriffin.com/events/
