City of Minneapolis Government says
Free computer repair and support at upcoming Fix-it Tech event

The City of Minneapolis and many community partners are offering free computer repair and technology support.

If you have a computer or laptop that is running slowly, not working, or seems to have a virus, you can bring it in (with power cords) for free tech support. Volunteers at these events will teach you valuable repair skills, answer questions, and give technical advice about computers and laptops. Computers and laptops will be looked at on a first-come, first-served basis. The consultation and labor are free, and volunteers can offer advice on purchasing parts online or at local repair stores. Volunteers may be able to help with smartphones and tablets depending on capacity.

Why Fix-It Tech events?
The City of Minneapolis developed the Fix-It Tech events with community partners in response to the Minneapolis Community Technology survey results and our experiences working with residents on their technology needs. The 2014 survey results show that residents overall are not very comfortable troubleshooting computer problems, installing software or backing up files, or protecting themselves online.
Through these events, the City and its partners are offering hands-on technical experience that will help residents get their items fixed, provide a place to get tech questions answered and get tips on how to maintain and protect personal devices. Fix-It Tech events also allow residents to connect with local IT training providers and learn about IT careers.
