Freshwater Theatre's 5th Annual Chili Cook Off!

Spring is just around the corner! We know Minnesota winters don't go out quietly, so let's send it out with a warm, Chili-filled roar together with our 5th Annual Chili Cook-Off! For only $10, consume all the chili you can hold! This year, we're spicing it up with a LIVE auction, hosted by Freshwater company member and comedian extraordinaire Mame Pelletier! Plus, we'll have items priced for sale, which will be modeled during our first ever fashion show. Items will include, circle scarves, handbags, mobile phone "bling", and more! And, we are bringing back our HOME BREW COMPETITION! Once again, the coveted title of Freshwater's 2015 "BEST FIRKIN BREWER" is up for grabs - the winner will receive such fabulous prizes as legions of screaming fans, an engraved mug, and UNLIMITED REFILLS during our shows! (We have filled up with entries very quickly, so entry into the contest is closed, but you can still sign up to be a beer judge!*) The event will support our upcoming Fall production of Keith Hovis' new musical tentatively titled "Pioneer Suite", a further exploration of the themes from his "Mrs. Housel: A Suicide Suite" which appeared in our "Archival Revival" last Spring and had an excerpt presented as part of the Ivey Awards this September. PLUS: we'll be presenting a preview of the music from the show at the cook off, in order to whet your appetite! If you would like to enter the Chili Contest, please submit your entries no later than Friday, March 20. Email submissions to info@freshwatertheatre.com with the following info: Your Name Type of Chili (veggie, white, no bean, etc.) Name of Chili Please bring your chil in at least a 2qt pot, so as to ensure enough to go around. If your chili is best served with accessories (sour cream, crackers, cheese, etc.) please bring those items with you, along with your (crock)pot of chili. We will have outlets available for crockpots, and all chilis will be assigned a letter for anonymity. Cooks entering the cook-off will not be required to pay admission. Cooks will need to arrive at 4:00 pm to set up. We have a 20 entry limit, so enter ASAP! *Beer Judging: A limited number of guests will be able to buy a pin and ballot ($10) and officially judge competition beers.
