Introduction To The General Defense Committee Social Hour says

In the wake of the election of Donald Trump to the office of president, many have asked the IWW and the GDC how to become involved in our work. Our organizing is direct and doesn't rely on politicians, and therefore on political cycles. You can start now.

Others wonder what we do. This is a good question. These links might help explain a bit, but don't worry about them. Just come to the social hour.

We'll have snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. It won't be a formal presentation-style thing; you can show up and ask questions of any GDC member present.

At 7PM, the GDC's monthly business meeting begins. People interested in learning more are welcome to remain.

Anyone who is not a police officer or prison guard may join the GDC, as long as they agree with our basic guiding principles.

We are a dues-paying organization, but our dues are cheap. A $5 initiation fee, followed by $5/quarter ($20/year). If you like, we can sign you up at the social, but you will not be pressured to join or purchase anything. We don't recruit the way other leftist orgs you may be familiar with: no sudden 'captive audience' meetings disguised as parties, no hard pressure to buy a newspaper.
