Kung Fu Hippies:
In 2001, the Minneapolis band Soul Farm had broken up. Later, members of this band, Frank Leonovich and Sam Howard formed the Kung Fu Hippies. Along with G.R.Svendahl, Ryan Brooker, and Brian "Buzz Chopper" Kopp, the band played "jammy" versions of classics by the Grateful Dead, Santana, Traffic, and others. Over the next couple of years, there were some lineup changes that brought in some new bass players and the addition of Brad Ray on acoustic rhythm guitar and vocals and Chad Whittaker on bass and vocals. When he joined in 2002, Chad brought many great original songs to the band. This inspired more writing, and songs were contributed by most members of the band. Kung Fu Hippies toured the 5 state area extensively from 2002-2005, playing many music festivals, outdoor community events, late night bar shows, and private events throughout the 5 state area. Cities like Duluth, Kansas City, Superior, St. Cloud, Fargo, Rochester, Madison, and some smaller towns, were visited by the band. KFH had a residency at the 5 Corners Saloon during this period as well. In late 2005, the band broke up. In the late summer of 2012, Frank put the idea of a rebirth of Kung Fu Hippies into three of the members. It was decided that we two legendary drummers would be needed to make the band whole again, and with the four original members, and the addition of the two long time drumming legends from Edina, the Kung Fu Hippies would be reborn. The current lineup of the legendary Kung Fu Hippies are: Frank Leonovich- Guitar & Vocals.. Chad Whittaker- Bass & Vocals.. Brad Ray- Acoustic Guitar and Vocals.. Brian "Buzz Chopper" Kopp- Keyboards.. Mark "Munchie" Collins- Drums.. Geoff Prettnar- Dums/Percussion
