Milkweed Books Grand Opening! says
A couple of months ago, Milkweed Editions announced plans for Milkweed Books—a new nonprofit, independent bookstore with big ambitions, including events, membership, a national subscription program, and local bicycle delivery.

And now, our grand opening is almost here! Please join us on Tuesday, September 20th at 5:30pm for a public open house!

We have a lot to accomplish before then, but you can help! First, help us plan ahead by registering for the grand opening (it's free!). Then, check out our KICKSTARTER campaign:

Among many other rewards, we are offering **lifetime founding memberships** to Milkweed Books for a limited time, available only on Kickstarter.

5:30 p.m. — Doors open (refreshments, tours, shopping)
6:30 p.m. — Short program featuring Deni Ellis Béchard, author of the new novel INTO THE SUN
8:00 p.m. — Open house concludes

Deni Ellis Béchard is the author of four works of fiction and nonfiction, including the novel INTO THE SUN, the memoir CURES FOR HUNGER, and OF BONOBOS AND MEN: A JOURNEY TO THE HEART OF THE CONGO. His first novel, VANDAL LOVE, received the 2007 Commonwealth Writers' Prize and was selected for Oprah's Book Club's summer reading list. He has reported from Afghanistan, northern Iraq, India, Rwanda, and the Congo for a variety of publications, including the LOS ANGELES TIMES, OUTSIDE, FOREIGN POLICY, and SALON.

About INTO THE SUN: When a car explodes in Kabul ten years after 9/11, a journalist discovers that its passengers—three fellow expats—had formed an unlikely love triangle. As the journalist learns more, the narratives of their lives become inseparable from the story of America's imperial misadventures.
