“James Patrick Plays” Live at the Dakota with special guest Richard Devine
11:30 pm - 2 am // $5

RICHARD DEVINE is recognized for producing a hybrid of digitally layered and heavily processed sounds, combining influences from hip-hop, avant garde, electro acoustic, to old and modern electronic music. Devine made his mark in the 90’s with the Miami-based Schematic Records, then went on to release his first full length album “Lipswitch” on Warp Records. Since then he has released numerous EP’s and singles on labels including Detroit Underground, Tape, Asphodel, Sublight, and MakeNoise Records, in addition to recording extensively under the name DEVSND. Devine first started using computers for composition around 1993, and quickly dove into the world of programming for audio synthesis. Now he stands as a leading force in the development of new analog and digital synthesis techniques, providing support to a number of hardware and software manufacturers including Native Instruments, Ableton Live, Roland and Moog. As a sound designer he has created vast collections of new sounds for film, TV, gaming and multimedia projects that have received critical acclaim. Additionally, he has scored commercials for companies such as Apple, BMW, Ford, Coke, HBO, Nike and Touchstone Pictures among many others, while engineering and performing his own music worldwide.
