The Loft Literary Center says
The Loft Literary Center proudly presents a Second Story Reading with Shannon Gibney and Carrie Mesrobian. Volunteer curated by children’s authors Megan Atwood and Heather Bouwman, Second Story is the Loft’s reading series for young adult, middle-grade, and picture book authors. Perfect for families and readers of all ages, Second Story pairs a first-time author with a more established voice in children’s literature.

Shannon Gibney is a writer, educator, and activist in Minneapolis. Her young adult novel See No Color was released by Carolrhoda Lab in November 2015. Her writing has appeared in a variety of venues, including The Crisis, Gawker, and Inside Higher Education. Gibney is a professor of English at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC), where she teaches critical and creative writing, journalism, and African diasporic topics. A former Bush Artist Fellow, and current McKnight Writing Fellow, she lives with her husband and children in Minneapolis.

Carrie Mesrobian is the author of three YA books: Sex & Violence, which was a 2014 finalist for the William C. She has taught at the Loft since 2007.
