Panel at AWP Minneapolis, featuring David P. Ervin, Elana Bell, Olivia Kate Cerrone, and Maurice Decaul; moderated by Amira Pierce. Sat, Apr. 11, at 3pm, in Room 200 B&C, Level 2.

This panel features published writers--two of them US military veterans--who facilitate workshops for people with direct involvement in war. We share our practices for teaching writing as a means of coming together in a community and processing wartime experiences. In addition to our pedagogical discussion, we share writing from workshop participants, to show how crucial their work is in helping us see war as a worldwide cultural and literary phenomenon that is also the stories of real people.

She has led creative writing workshops for women in prison, for educators, for high school students, and for Seeds of Peace. Elana is writer in residence at the Bronx Academy of Letters.
