Writing Workshop: Testimony Against Line 3 says
Minnesotans in 22 counties effected by the Line 3 Replacement pipeline will have a unique chance to stand up and say something about it. This is so important. Testimony is supposed to be in direct reference to items in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). We will point out errors, inconsistencies, and shallow areas. Because it's 5000 pages, I’d recommend only responding to a single chapter or a topic.

MN350 will host a 2 hour workshop session to peer-review drafts of testimony, brainstorm, ask and answer questions. Please come to the workshop with something started: a first draft is ideal, but notes or an outline are also great.

Resources
· Read the DEIS at https://mn.gov/commerce/energyfacilities/resource.html?Id=34695
· Stopline3.org has more background on Line 3 and a full list of 22 hearings

Writing your testimony
· Testimony will be limited to 3 minutes per person (this will average a written equivalent of two pages 1.5 spaced). Written comment can be longer, so feel free to write as much as you want and then select a portion for spoken testimony!
· Please cite often! When referencing the DEIS, cite with the specific section (ex. “In section 10.1.1.2, I noticed…”)
· Be specific and stay focused! Don’t feel like you have to cover a lot of ground. The idea is that as a group, if everyone chooses a different topic, there will be a lot of variety and information.

Topic ideas
· Pipeline abandonment
· Oil leaks and spills
· Climate change
· Effect on tourism
· Economic unviability of oil
· Tribal rights
· Property rights
· Human health effects
· Animal well-being
· Deforestation/destruction of land
· And more!!
