Goodbye giant warehouse maze; hello streamlined IKEA.

A new IKEA just 30 minutes from Royalmount in Montreal is offering a more compact, streamlined experience than the massive stores in Montreal, Boucherville, or Quebec City.

This “unique concept” in Quebec is a planning studio where you can meet with a specialist to plan home renovations, shop a curated selection of about 100 products on-site, and pick up online orders directly in-store.

With so many favourite shopping centres to choose from in Montreal, spending a few hours at IKEA is definitely one of Montreal's beloved shopping experiences.

The Plan and order point is the first of its kind in the province to combine customized services under one roof.

It gives customers the added convenience of doing a bit of in-person shopping—perfect for last-minute buys or getting a closer look at items before ordering online.

The new store will be located in SmartCentres Vaudreuil-Dorion, right in the heart of the area’s growing retail hub.

As with other IKEA locations, customers can book appointments to meet with experts, get tailored advice for their home projects, and arrange for home delivery or in-store pickup.

This new studio format joins IKEA’s growing network of planning spaces already established in Sherbrooke, Boisbriand, Brossard, and Lachenaie.

These smaller stores are designed to be more accessible and convenient for suburban shoppers who want expert guidance—without navigating a full-size warehouse.

Whether you’re taking on a full kitchen renovation or just looking for clever space-saving ideas, this new IKEA is worth a visit—especially if you’re hoping to skip the weekend crowds at the big stores.

The new IKEA is open as of May 2, 2025.
