Founded in 1962, Peel Pub was also a well-known spot for pre-gaming before hockey games at the Bell Centre—and less than two blocks from Sherbrooke Street West, recently ranked one of the coolest streets in the world.
Situated in the heart of Montreal at 1196 Peel Street—just steps from top shopping destinations like the Montreal Eaton Centre and Time Out Market Montréal—the Peel Pub was famous for its drink specials, massive beer pitchers, hearty pub fare, and lively comedy and sports nights.
According to a report by CTV News, a new group of investors—U.K. expats who previously ran Montreal pubs like The Irish Embassy and McLean’s Pub—are stepping in with plans to revive the venue and restore some of its former charm.
Among the first upgrades is a completely revamped beer room, fitted with state-of-the-art draft systems to guarantee perfectly poured pints, the report notes. And alongside sports screenings, the revamped Peel Pub will feature comedy nights, trivia contests and classic pub fare.
The report also states that the Peel Pub aims to reopen just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
