According to the press release, the new terminal developed by YHU Infrastructure Partners introduces commercial flights to MET for the first time, offering Greater Montréal passengers a more accessible, efficient and user-friendly alternative to existing airports.
The official opening of the new terminal is June 15, 2026.
At launch, Porter Airlines and Pascan Aviation will operate routes connecting destinations across Canada, with room for additional carriers to join in the future.
Already common in major global cities, multi-airport systems are designed to ease congestion and expand travel options—and Montréal is now joining their ranks.
Positioned as a hub for quieter, more fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft, MET aims to become a go-to airport for streamlined domestic travel.
The MET – Montreal Metropolitan Airport (formerly Saint-Hubert Airport) is located at 5700 Route de l'Aéroport, Longueuil, QC J3Y 8Y9, Canada.
Located just 15 kilometres from downtown, MET is designed for convenience. Travellers can access the terminal via a well-connected road network or the METbus express shuttle linking directly to the Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke metro station.
A 500-metre drop-off zone and three traffic lanes ensure smooth vehicle flow, making the airport easily accessible for more than three million residents across Montréal, Montérégie and the Eastern Townships.

Spanning 21,000 square metres, the terminal has been built with modern travellers in mind.
Expect 9 boarding bridges, a 900-seat waiting lounge, and an integrated operations model that allows for faster coordination and shorter processing times.
Thanks to its compact layout, passengers can arrive closer to departure and move seamlessly from check-in to gate.
The terminal’s sleek, light-filled design also pays tribute to Montréal’s aviation history, with subtle nods to the iconic 1930 arrival of the R-100 airship in Saint-Hubert.
As Canada’s oldest airport, dating back to 1927, the site blends heritage with forward-thinking infrastructure.
In keeping with its Québec roots, the terminal’s retail offering will feature 100% local brands, including a Bâton Rouge restaurant, a Café Dépôt and a curated convenience and travel shop.
Designed by Scott & Associates and built by PCL Construction in under three years, the project reflects strong regional support. A 2024 Léger survey found that 77% of residents back the development, underscoring its significance as a new transportation hub for the region.
With its strategic location, efficient design and growing roster of airlines, the new MET terminal is set to become a key player in Montréal’s evolving travel ecosystem—and a compelling new option for travellers looking to fly smarter.
