UPDATE June 11, 2026: A risk of thunderstorms is in place across several regions of Quebec on Thursday. According to MétéoMédia, while expected to be more isolated than Wednesday’s storms, they could bring torrential downpours, small hail and high humidity, particularly in southern parts of the province. Conditions will remain favourable for a potentially more volatile weather situation on Friday.

A major heat wave is tightening its grip on Quebec—and it’s not just bringing the heat.

As high temperatures and humidity surge across the province, the threat of thunderstorms is expected to rise dramatically—setting the stage for several potentially volatile days ahead.

According to MétéoMédia, local humidex values are approaching 40°C, even as far north as Saguenay and Chibougamau.

Thunderstorms may erupt across parts of Quebec from Wednesday through Friday, with a cold front on Friday triggering potentially severe weather.

Temperatures flirting with 30°C will feel like 40°C, and as warm, moisture-laden air pushes into the province, conditions will become increasingly unstable.

Southern Quebec will be the primary target for thunderstorm development on Wednesday afternoon, bringing strong wind gusts, small hail and locally heavy rainfall.

The summerlike conditions won't be limited to southern regions. Areas such as Saguenay and even Chibougamau are expected to experience the heat, with temperatures forecast to reach 31°C on Thursday.

With an abundance of moisture in the atmosphere, conditions will once again support storm development on Thursday, but especially on Friday as a cold front moves through the province.

That frontal passage could bring the most active weather of the week, sweeping away the humidity but potentially unleashing stronger storms in the process.

Thunderstorms could remain in the forecast through parts of the weekend, and while temperatures are expected to return closer to seasonal norms by Sunday, unsettled weather may linger.
