Over 50 mm of heavy rain to hit Montreal this weekend

Significant downpour from thunderstorms starting Friday through Sunday could also lead to flooding.

Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and flooding are expected to hit Montreal this weekend.

With another weather alert in effect from Environment Canada, rainfall totals of 25 to 50 millimetres are expected, but thunderstorms could bring additional precipitation, pushing local totals beyond 50 millimetres.

After record-setting heat, rain and thunderstorms are expected between Friday evening to Sunday morning, with the heaviest precipitation expected from Friday evening to Saturday evening.

The special weather statement also warned that water may accumulate locally, with some rivers seeing an increased flow and higher water levels.
