The Anse-à-l'Orme branch of the REM will extend service to nearly ten additional municipalities and boroughs.

The REM’s Anse-à-l’Orme branch will officially launch service in May, marking a major step forward for mobility in Montreal’s West Island.
With this expansion, the REM becomes the first high-frequency, fully integrated public transit network to serve the area.

The new 14-kilometre extension adds four stations across Pointe-Claire, Kirkland, and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue: Des Sources, Fairview–Pointe-Claire, Kirkland, and Anse-à-l’Orme.
With this extension, the REM expands its reach to nearly ten additional municipalities and boroughs, while STM bus routes have been reconfigured to improve connections with the network.
The REM Anse-à-l’Orme branch in Montreal's West Island is scheduled to officially launch on May 18, 2026.
With the arrival of the REM in the West Island, local residents now benefit from a fast, reliable connection to downtown; frequent, fully automated service; seamless integration with three metro lines, bus networks, and additional commuter rail lines.
The final branch of the REM connecting to the airport (YUL) is expected to open in 2027.
