Attention, Montreal commuters.
According to a report by the Montreal Gazette, the union representing Montreal transit maintenance workers has warned that additional strike days could be added, accusing the STM of failing to negotiate in good faith.
How long will the STM strike last?
Currently the STM strike is taking place until October 5, 2025.
The report detailed that the union can call four more strike days between now and October 3 unless an agreement is reached.
Discussions with a mediator are ongoing, but no arbitrator has been appointed yet.
The dispute centers on subcontracting, atypical schedules, and wages, with subcontracting remaining the main sticking point.
The STM is offering a 12.5% wage increase over five years with an inflation adjustment, while the union seeks about 25% over five years plus bonuses.

What is the STM strike schedule and service changes?
If no agreement is reached, strike days and reduced service will continue on: September 26, September 29, October 1, and October 3, 2025.
