The Beer Bar at Time Out Market Montréal is shining the spotlight on another favourite local microbrewery this September: Les Grands Bois.
Based in the small village of Saint-Casimir, in Quebec’s Portneuf region, Les Grands Bois brews its beers inside a former movie theatre—and its eye-catching labels and packaging are every bit as memorable as what’s in the glass.
What makes Les Grands Bois so special?
How many microbreweries can say they make top-notch beer on the second floor of a movie theatre dating back to 1946?
Since 2016, Les Grands Bois has been brewing creative, flavour-forward beers inside this former cinema in the heart of Saint-Casimir. Founded by five local friends looking to breathe new life into their community, the microbrewery grew from a shared passion for beer, plenty of experimentation and inspiration gathered from brewing cultures around the world.
Today, Les Grands Bois produces a diverse lineup of craft beers using high-quality ingredients, with inventive recipes that continually push the boundaries of Quebec’s brewing scene. The bold, artistic labels are almost as distinctive as the beers themselves.
The building is also home to the Théâtre des Grands Bois, Quebec’s largest performance venue affiliated with a microbrewery. Together, the two spaces combine beer and culture, with a program spanning music, performing arts, cinema and visual arts—all while keeping the focus on producing exceptional craft beer.

What beers will be available at the Market?
The three featured beers will be:
Giorgio
An Italian-inspired pilsner dry-hopped with Saphir hops, offering a soft malty profile and delicate floral aromas.
Monte Carlo
A fresh take on the NEIPA, with a rotating selection of hops in every batch. Dry yet silky, this heavily double dry-hopped beer delivers bold hop character while remaining exceptionally drinkable.
Fruit Fruit
Built on a Belgian witbier base, this beer is generously infused with pure yuzu juice and raspberries, giving it a bright, tangy acidity and pronounced fruit character—the perfect patio beer.
