The event creator says
No Joke. This April 1st, 2015 will see a celebration of John Kennedy Toole's masterpiece, "A Confederacy of Dunces" with a free, public reading of excerpts from the novel. New Orleans' finest orators will converge at The Irish House, 1432 St. Charles Avenue, to regale and edify the cretinous public with the epic saga of Ignatius Reilly, medievalist and slob extraordinaire, as Fortuna wheels him through the vile and asymmetrical streets of 1960s New Orleans. Do not be cowed by the presence of our illustrious readers, for a few special members of the audience will be randomly chosen to read an excerpt from the great tome by spinning a small replica of Fortuna's wheel demarcated with page numbers from Master Kennedy's tale. Maple Street Book Shop will have a table set up featuring volumes for sale and the culinary mastery of Chef Matt Murphy will be available to soothe your valve.
