Cutting Edge Music Business Conference says
Every city’s music community should have a Pat Jolly. Pat Jolly is the ever-present “voice in the head” of the New Orleans music and arts community. As a photographer Pat Jolly can be spotted at gigs, parties, gallery openings, and events throughout the New Orleans area, but she does more than take pictures. Geraldine Wyckoff says it best: “[Pat] Jolly doesn’t go to performances and gallery openings merely to take pictures and document occasions, she’s engaged in what’s going on and the people who are making it happen – she’s part of it.” [Offbeat.com 2014]

Pat Jolly is the person who single-handedly informed a generation about who was performing and where, first in her legendary 1970’s–80’s Jolly Jazz Calendar, a brochure of weekly listings funded by the New Orleans Jazz Festival. With this brochure she set a new standard, teaching other print publications the importance of music, gallery and event listings. Jolly continued her information campaign into the Internet age and now provides her weekly PatJolly.com listing of events, shows, CD releases and “everything New Orleans.” Not pretentious, never all knowing (though clearly often the most versed person in the room), always pleasant, and ever on the move either going to an event or coming from one, Pat Jolly is a constant in the New Orleans music and culture scene; we are grateful and enriched by her dedication.
