Drepung Gomang Monks Create Sand Mandala For World Peace: Opening Ceremony

Tibetan monks visiting from the Drepung Gomang Monastery of Southern India will create the mandala over the five-day period, beginning with an opening ceremony on Wednesday, March 11th at 12:00pm. At the Opening Ceremony, the monks will chant powerful prayers for peace, prosperity, and healing in traditional overtones—the chant master intoning a full chord of three notes. Their chants will be accompanied by delicate hand gestures, cymbals, drums, horns, and flutes. The public is invited to witness the creation of the sand mandala daily, March 11th - March 15th from 10am - 5pm.
