Forum for Equality is partnering with Evacuteer.org and bringing a community training to you! We hope you will join us in connecting and protecting the LGBT community this hurricane season.

Evacuteer.org is a community private 501(c)(3) non-profit. Since 2009, we coordinate the human resources required for the City of New Orleans public option to assist more than 35,000 residents who may not have the means to self-evacuate in the event of the mandatory activation of City Assisted Evacuation. Each year, we recruit, train, and manage 500 local volunteers called Evacuteers who serve as a reserve corps that will provide vital assistance to the 17 neighborhood pick-up points called Evacuspots, the Union Passenger Terminal in the CBD, and the 311 Call Center in City Hall.

Evacuteers are the valuable citizen volunteers who fulfill a critical role during the event of a mandatory evacuation in New Orleans. You will train in-person at Propeller in the Large Conference Room. We will describe how your commitment will directly support the public option, known as the City Assisted Evacuation (CAE).

We will cover:
Evacuee flow during the CAE
Evacuteer roles at Evacuspots
Evacuteer roles at the Union Passenger Terminal
Evacuteer roles at the NOLA 311 Call Center
Evacuteer roles during re-entry into the city
