Join The Historic New Orleans Collection for a spirited culinary symposium exploring the history, production, and consumption of rum, the most widely produced liquor in Louisiana. In addition to the six presentations on Saturday, June 25, participants will be invited to attend a happy hour event on Friday, June 24, and a rum tasting immediately after the talks.

Culinary historian and author Jessica B. Harris will moderate the event, which will include sessions from Ed Hamilton, moderator of the online forum the Ministry of Rum; Rosie Schapp, drink columnist for New York Times Magazine; local cocktail historian Elizabeth Pearce; and more. A full schedule of talks is available online.

Registration is $70 per person, $60 for educators, students, and THNOC members. Admission includes one drink and light hors d'oeuvres at Friday's happy hour, Saturday's sessions, the rum tasting, and tax. Must be 21 or older to attend. Call (504) 523-4662 to register by phone.
