THE REX GREGORY SAXOPHONE QUARTET
SUNDAY, 4 P.M., AT THE JAZZ & HERITAGE CENTER
FREE ADMISSION

This Sunday at 4:00 p.m. we'll present the Rex Gregory Saxophone Quartet in a program of pleasantly adventurous instrumental music.

The concert takes place at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center (map). Admission is free. No advance registration is required.

The group also will perform at 4 p.m. on Dec. 20 and Jan. 24.

Saxophonist and composer Rex Gregory is known for his composition and arranging abilities, as well has his facility on all manner of saxophones, clarinets and flutes. He is a sought-after musician for a diverse array of projects, and has performed with many leading New Orleans musicians, including Jason Marsalis, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra led by Irvin Mayfield, Theresa Andersson, Adonis Rose, David Torkanowsky, James Singleton, Steve Masakowski, Wendell Brunious, Simon Lott and Harold Battiste presents the Next Generation. Originally from Houston, he graduated from the University of New Orleans with a B.A. in Jazz Performance.

Joining Rex will be saxophonists Ray Moore, Derek Douget and Oliver Bonnie - all accomplished performers, composers and bandleaders in their own rights.

The concert is presented by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, the nonprofit that owns the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. The Foundation uses the proceeds from Jazz Fest, and other raised funds, for year-round programs in education, economic development and cultural enrichment.
