Planning on getting a high-speed train across Spain anytime soon? Well, there’s never been a better time to book. The Spanish national rail operator Renfe is offering hundreds of thousands of super-cheap high-speed rail tickets on its route between Madrid and Barcelona.

The sale is to celebrate the fifteenth birthday of Renfe’s high-speed AVE route, which launched between Madrid and Barcelona all the way back in February 2008. And ‘15’ is very much the birthday party’s common theme: the tickets will cost just €15 (£13.20, $16) and 150,000 of them will be available.

Spain’s currently in the midst of something of a golden age for the country’s high-speed, low-cost rail network. New operator Iryo began offering a new Madrid-Barcelona route that costs just €18 (£15.80, $19.20) back in November, while new speedy routes now link up (or will soon link up) cities like Murcia, Valencia and Alicante.

Renfe’s sale tickets are available from now until this Saturday (February 25) and they’re valid for travel from March 15 onwards. You can book tickets on the Renfe website here. Go, go, go!

Did you see that a brand-new sleeper train linking several European cities is launching soon?
