Welcome to Unabomber Fall! Indeed, as summer fades away, the most notable title on Netflix’s September slate is probably its biopic of the young Ted Kaczynski, the math prodigy turned reclusive domestic terrorist, starring Jacob Tremblay and Shailene Woodley, which looks a little like Zodiac meets Tony. If you like your true-crime on the campier side, Ryan Murphy’s anthology series Monster is back, this time focusing on the axe-swinging parent-murderer of 19th century legend, Lizzie Borden. Elsewhere, there are coming-of-age dramedies centered around rowing and competitive Bollywood dancing, documentaries about misfit high school journalists and bad breakdancers, the return of a much-loved French comedy, a Willy Wonka game show, somehow more Stranger Things and Kevin Hart talking to athletes while in an ice bath. Truly, something for everyone.

Untold: Raygun: Breaking Badly
In 2024, competitive breakdancing made its debut in the Summer Olympics, and almost immediately the world experienced collective second-hand embarrassment from the performance of an Australian b-girl nicknamed Raygun. Now, she tells her side of the story. However the doc turns out, it gets two thumbs up for the title alone.

Tyler Perry reunites the squabbling couples from 2007’s Why Did I Get Married? And 2010’s Why Did I Get Married Too? at a destination wedding in Italy. Maybe we’ll finally get an answer in this one. Our money’s on tax breaks.

Call My Agent! The Movie
Six years after closing up shop, the much-loved French comedy series, set in a Parisian talent agency, returns, with Camille Cottin reprising her role as ex-agent Andréa Martel, now an aspiring director scrambling to replace the lead actor in her debut feature. Think of it like The Studio only more, well, French.

Crew Girl
A teen girl joins a prep school where she ends up the lone female member of a dysfunctional rowing club in this young-adult romantic drama. Can’t have too many of those.

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story
Ryan Murphy can’t stop, won’t stop. The king of camp’s latest true-crime miniseries takes on the story of the 19th-century woman who took an axe and gave her parents 40 whacks… allegedly. It’s got a heck of a cast, truth be told, including Vicky Krieps, Rebecca Hall, Charlie Hunnam and, of course, Sarah Paulson as… Aileen Wuornos?

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 season 2
Oh, Stranger Things – how can we miss you when you won’t go away? The kid-friendlier animated spinoff is already back for a second run of episodes after the first season premiered in April, four months after the finale of the real show. And guess what? Something strange is once again afoot in the town of Hawkins – in this case, it involves weird, iridescent flowers.

Best of the Best
Call it Step Up Bollywood. In this coming-of-age dramedy, co-written by comedian Hasan Minhaj, two college students join a competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team and make a push for a national championship. Looks pretty fun and high-energy.

Kevin Hart interviews athletes while sitting in a tub of ice. You see, it’s like Hot Ones, except cold. Because this is how celebrity interview shows are now.

Wonka's The Golden Ticket
A reality competition indeed inspired by the Roald Dahl book – or perhaps more accurately, the Gene Wilder movie adaptation – this show pits participants against each other in a series of Wonka-inspired challenges, where the winner gets not chocolate but a ‘lifetime supply of money’. (How much is that, exactly?) Do the losers get killed off one-by-one like the movie, too?

A Different World
The reboot era comes for A Different World, the late ’80s-early ’90s Cosby Show spinoff set at a fictional historically black college. Well, the original source show won’t be getting remade any time soon, so why not?

Unabomber
You’ve seen Tony, now watch Ted – as in Ted Kaczynski, the mathematician turned domestic terrorist known as the Unabomber. In this biopic, Jacob Tremblay plays the murdering Luddite as a young man, going back to his Harvard years to show his radicalization against the technological world. Shailene Woodley, meanwhile, is the FBI agent tracking him down in the present – or rather, the 1990s.
