Advent calendars are the most fun way to launch the countdown to Christmas, but let’s face it, those flimsy supermarket options with barely a crumb of chocolate inside are a pretty lacklustre way to get into the festive spirit.

Thankfully, tonnes of brands have had an awakening to the humble advent calendar’s potential, with everything from a slab of cheese to brand-new makeup being hidden behind those little doors. And now easyJet has joined the Christmassy cardboard bandwagon.

At £695, the airline’s limited edition ‘Advent(ure) Calendar’ is not cheap. But it promises goodies worth over £2000, with 12 drawers featuring different travel gifts for 2024. There’s £50 to put towards a package holiday, £75 to spend on CarTrawler car hire, £20 to spend on the airline’s onboard shop, and food and drink vouchers.

The most exciting gift of all, though, has to be the four pairs of return easyJet flights. They even include 23kg hold luggage per person. The price of the calendar probably covers those fees alone.

What’s more, purchasing one of these limited edition goodies means you’re in with a chance of winning one of four Golden Tickets. No, that’s not a trip to the chocolate factory, but an easyJet package holiday for two at an Iberostar resort. Now that would be a great way to kick off the new year.

While the calendar might sound like a pretty pricey pre-Christmas investment, especially when December is already a tight time for those purse strings, you do get a lot of bang for your buck. Plus, easyJet is getting into the charitable festive spirit by donating 50 percent of the proceeds from the calendars to Unicef.

There are only a few calendars available, so if those vouchers and return flights have taken your fancy, place an order by November 20 for pre-advent arrival.

Did you see that a brand-new European airline is launching next year?
