Finding a cheap train ticket, hotel room, or flight is always a bonus when you’re planning a holiday, and in some exciting news for European travellers, a brand-new budget-friendly airline is about to launch.

It’s called Fly2Galicia, it’ll be based at Santiago de Compostela’s Rosalía de Castro Airport in northwestern Spain, and its services will begin operation in just four months time.

That’s right – December 1 is the inaugural date of its first flight, with 17 departures planned each week across its eight destinations from then until October 24, 2027, when the schedule will be reviewed.

International connections include Brussels, Munich, Milan, Prague and Venice, and there will also be domestic flights to Granada, Alicante and Zaragoza (which will be the first flight’s destination).

The most exciting news, though, is the price. One way journeys will start from as little as €19, according to the Sun, with options to Milan and Brussels beginning at €39 and Munich, Prague and Venice starting at €49.

Oh, and a ticket will include two pieces of hand luggage – a personal item plus an eight-kilo cabin bag. No unnecessary baggage fees here – we can thank the EU’s new hand luggage rules for that.

For the aerophiles, it’s reported Fly2Galicia will be using an Airbus A320, which has a capacity of between 150-190 passengers, but that a second aircraft might be acquired for next year’s summer season.

Technically, a yet-to-be announced operator will be the one running the first few flights, and Fly2Galicia will take over when the services are up and running.
