Desperate for a holiday but limited in your options? Maybe the place you wanted to stay was snapped up the minute travel was allowed again, or perhaps you’re not ready to venture too far from home just yet.

Either way, these incredible DIY cabins, like the Kabinka (below), might be the answer.

Hello Wood, a company based in Budapest, has designed a series of build-your-own cabins that can be set up in your back garden, or a spare bit of green space if you’re lucky enough to own some woodland, or a field or two.

The stylishly simple constructions can either provide a glamping-style escape from daily life, a pop-up home office or a really fancy garden shed.

The minimalist Kabinka comes in four sizes and is naturally off-grid, but has room for a tiny kitchen, desk and bed.

The best bit? Just like your lovingly constructed Ikea bookshelves, these babies require all those DIY skills you honed in lockdown. All Hello Wood say you need is a ‘helper, basic tools and a handful of enthusiasm’.

For less of a project, the insulated and soundproofed Workstation cabin (above) has been created with a back garden in mind, and it comes pre-built so you can put away that screwdriver you don’t know how to use. Rather than a glamping cabin, this one is more of a ‘a meeting room, study, a kids’ playroom and a perfect hiding place if you are looking for a quiet space to read, relax and exercise’.

Sounds like a post-lockdown essential to us. If only we had somewhere to put it...
