Whether you’re a leisurely sunbather or get-up-and-go surfer, most of us love the beach. The world has thousands of gorgeous locations where the sand meets the sea – and now, the best ones have been named.

Travel booking site Enjoy Travel has compiled a list of the best beaches in the world, using a combination of recommendations from their editorial team, previous media results and official Blue Flag locations.

So, where is the best beach in the world? Well, according to Enjoy Travel, it’s White Beach in the Philippines. This stretch of paradise is only accessible via boat from Port Barton, or a very precarious journey in a 4x4. The powdery white sands are bordered by coconut palms, and the remote location promises ultimate tranquillity.

Ranking as the second best beach in the world is Cabo San Juan Beach in Colombia, nestled in Tayrona National Park. Another tucked-away spot, this incredible shoreline is at the end of a long tropical hike where en route, you’ll cross eight other dazzling beaches. Cabo San Juan boasts a campsite and is a notoriously good spot for stargazing.

In third place is Jalousie Beach in St Lucia, aka Sugar Beach, which has spectacular views of the Petit Piton volcano, and is a fantastic option for divers. Kendwa Beach in Zanzibar and Whitehaven beach in Australia take fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Australia’s beaches actually make up two entries on the list, with Hyams Beach ranking at number 10.

Here are the top 10 beaches in the world, according to Enjoy Travel.

  1. White Beach, Philippines
  2. Cabo San Juan Beach, Colombia
  3. Jalousie Beach, St Lucia
  4. Kendwa Beach, Zanzibar
  5. Whitehaven Beach, Australia
  6. Source d’Argent, Seychelles
  7. Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Cove), Zakynthos, Greece
  8. Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos
  9. Lang Co Beach, Vietnam
  10. Hyams Beach, Australia
