If you’re a fan of musicals, you might already have a ‘Phantom of the Opera’-themed Paris trip in your sights – and now you can stay in the actual opera house that inspired Gaston Leroux’s famous novel.

That’s right: rental platform Airbnb announced today that for the first time ever, fans of the musical will be able to book an overnight stay at the iconic Parisian opera house Palais Garnier. Not only that, but they’ll be staying in the coveted Box of Honour, the most exclusive viewing platform in the house, which’ll be transformed for the night into an opulent bedroom.

And if kicking back and taking in the view of the ultra-fancy Neo-Baroque auditorium in your pyjamas isn’t enough, the stay comes with a bunch of other exclusive experiences. Guests will get a tour of the underground lake that inspired the phantom’s lair, watch a recital performed by artists of the Paris Opera Academy, have dinner in the ornate Foyer de la Danse, get a private ballet initiation, and much more.

The whole thing has been organised to celebrate the musical’s 15-country run this year and to bid adieu to the play before its final curtain call on Broadway. It’s also part of Airbnb’s new programme to support heritage tourism.

So what’s the catch? Well, it’s very much a first-come-first-served situation. ‘Phans’ can request to book the overnight stay on Airbnb today (March 1) from 12pm ET (5pm GMT), and the stay will take place on July 16. You can read more about it here.
