Solo travel is amazing – not just because you can explore the world at your own pace, but because you can learn to really enjoy your own company. Getting an overnight train though? It’s rare to guarantee privacy on one of those, considering they’re typically made up of multi-bed cabins – until now, that is.

NightJet, the sleeper branch of Austria’s national rail operator ÖBB, has just launched a line of 33 sleeper trains that feature private sleeping cabins – and they’ve already welcomed rave reviews. Youtuber Nonstop Eurotrip journeyed on one of the trains from Vienna to Hamburg

‘I’m a huge fan of this new innovation. I was more than happy to spend the night in one of these pods with their excellent comfort and privacy,’ he says, according to the Express. ‘It feels really spacious, as long as you’re not too tall.’

The new pods are equipped with a movable folding table, integrated mirror, coat hooks, a reading lamp, and adjacent lockers for hand luggage. But it’s not just the pods that are an exciting addition to the trains.

The new generation of carriages also feature redesigned sleeping cars for one or two people, and couchettes which can host up to four people. There’s even extra luxurious sleeper cars with private bathrooms, showers and seating areas with workspace on offer. Swanky.

Did you see that these two dazzling European countries could soon get a high-speed train link?
