Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp has confirmed his character is gay and wants a coming out scene in the next season.

Schnapp plays Will Byers in the Netflix horror, which explored the teenager’s tussles with his identity in its most recent fourth season. Oh, and all while he and his friends were also battling psycho demon Vecna and the sinister foes of the Upside Down.

Speaking of Byers’ sexuality, the 17-year-old actor said ‘it was always kind of there, but you never really knew’. ‘Now it’s 100 percent clear that he is gay and he does love Mike,’ he added. ‘But before, it was a slow arc.’

‘[Showrunners] the Duffers are saying for next season that they’re going to focus more on Will and build that storyline,’ Schnapp tells Variety.’I think that’s super exciting.’

‘There’s so many different things they have to address. Obviously, we hope for a coming out scene, and I also want to see them address this connection to the Mind Flayer and how that fits into the world. And I’ve always been wondering, why was Will the first victim and the first one captured? I just want to see it all tie in and all work out,’ the actor said.

Before we get the next installment of Stranger Things, Schnapp will be appearing in the upcoming thriller, The Tutor. He will be playing a disturbed student who threatens to expose his tutor’s (Garrett Hedlund) dark secrets.

Here's where you can see the ‘Stranger Things’ cast next.

A Stranger Things stage play is coming to London.
