1. The Last Sunrise (Prime)
A young woman (Maia Reficco) suffering from a chronic illness travels to Mallorca with her mother (Eva Longoria) for the summer, where she falls for a set of washboard abs named Julián (Fernando Lindez). Is it a fling, or something more? And will her worsening condition, combined with some buried family secrets, unravel it all? Hey, nothing wrong with a YA romance. And in the words of the great critic Bill Simmons, you get to go someplace.

2. Desert Warrior (Hulu)
A princess and an outlaw (Aiysha Hart and Anthony Mackie) team up to unite feuding tribes and take out a ruthless emperor (Ben Kingsley) in seventh-century Arabia. Despite some sprawling desert photography from director Rupert Wyatt, the movie flopped epically hard upon release, even in Saudi Arabia, where it was filmed and financed. It’s hard to imagine it’ll find a bigger audience on a smaller screen, but stranger things have happened. Also, between this and his appearance in Deep Water, it’s fair to ask: does Ben Kingsley owe someone money?

3. Penny Lane Is Dead (Shudder)
A gleeful piece of throwback Ozploitation, this ultra-bloody romp also nods to the punk-flavored horror-comedies of the 1980s, where the movie is set. A teenager spending the last days of a brutally hot summer at the coast with her friends finds the fun interrupted by the arrival of her unpredictable cousin and a couple of her own skeevy pals. Mayhem, and plenty of stabbings and slashings, ensues.

4. The Whisper Man (Netflix)
Robert De Niro cashes another fat Ted Sarandos check, and this time, he’s taking Adam Scott and Michelle Monaghan to the bank with him. In this Fincher-ish sounding thriller, De Niro is an ex-cop whose estranged son (Scott) asks him for help tracking the sadistic killer he believes abducted his child. Monaghan is a police detective, and Michael Keaton is in it, too. Is he the Whisper Man? He can be quite breathy at times.
